Nichume's family blames DJ Mobi Dixon for her death, 'He mistreated her' (See leaked whatsapp chats)

For the first time since her death, Mobi Dixon has commented on the suggestion that his neglect and mistreatment of her led to singer Nichume’s suicide

The house vocalist was signed to his label.

The South African music industry is still mourning the loss of Nichume, who took her own life when she launched herself from a balcony last week.

The aftermath of the singer’s death has resulted in a Twitter inquest into why she could have been so depressed and before long it became clear that the fingers of blame were all pointing in the same direction: Mobi Dixon.

Popular conspiracy-peddling Twitter account, @AdvBarryRoux (not the real lawyer, Barry Roux) got tongues wagging last week when he tweeted that Nichume’s family was blaming DJ Mobi Dixon for her death

The DJ, who had taken Nichume under his wing (and indeed that of his company, Top Chap Media), was caught in the firing line of a number of damning allegations which claimed that he had not paid the singer the money she was owed for recordings and performances.

The Twitter account went so far as to suggest that Nichume’s family blamed Mobi Dixon for her apparent depression and subsequent suicide.

Here is a summary of “Man’s Not Barry Roux”’s allegations:

Despite the fact that many of @AdvBarryRoux’s claims often go unconfirmed, they are taken as truth by many Twitter users who cite the numerous references in his threads as evidence.
With hundreds of people believing the account’s latest allegations against Mobi Dixon, the DJ has responded with a statement which All4Women was able to read in full

Through his publicists at HM Entertainment, Mobi Dixon and Top Chap Media attempted to take the focus away from the allegations and prompted fans to pay their respects to the Siwundla family instead.

Part of the statement read: “We are aware and deeply saddened by the allegations against Top Chap Media and our CEO Mobi Dixon by Nichume’s family. We will respect the wishes of the family and refrain from making any further statements or comments about Nichume.

“In respect for the deceased and honouring her legacy, we believe the main priority now should be giving her a dignified send off.

“We will issue further communication on this matter in due course after the funeral.

“Our sincere condolences and prayers go out to the family, friends and fans of Nichume.”

Nichume’s funeral is set to take place in Beacon Bay, a suburb in her hometown of East London.

Do you believe Mobi Dixon should take responsibility for Nichume’s passing?
