WHEN their panties started going missing in 2016, the women accused each other of stealing.
Then they started hanging up their panties in their bathrooms behind locked doors, but the panties still kept disappearing.
And two weeks ago the ladies from Clermont, west of Durban, got the fright of their lives when they found their panties hanging from a tree next to a road where houses are being built.
They said they pulled the panties down with sticks to get a closer look, but they were too terrified to touch them. Thembelihle Khanyile (42) said the last time her panties went missing, she had hung them in the bathroom.
“This came as a shock because I lock my house when I go out,” said Thembelihle.
Then she started having dreams about having se_x with an unknown man.
Kholeka Dlamini (22) said her underwear started growing legs in 2016.
“I hung a pair of my panties outside in the morning, and it was gone in the afternoon. It happened again in February this year. That’s when I started having s_ex in my dreams with a stranger,” she said.
She said she consulted a sangoma, who told her that her panties were used to make muthi.
“She gave me muthi to drink but that didn’t help.”
The worried women of Clermont appealed to SunReaders who might be able to help them.
But South African Traditional Healers Association president Sazi Mhlongo said this was nothing to lose any sleep over: he advised them to get strong muthi.
