LATEST: EFF calls for a public arrest of Mampintsha

The organisation is also calling for a public arrest of the artist.

The Economic Freedom Fighters has condemned the actions of Mampintsha for beating up Babes Wodumo.

Eff said Mampintsha previously denied allegations that he was responsible for physically abusing his lover Babes Wodumo, last year.

In an Instagram live video that later circulated on social media (taken by Simelane), Mampintsha is shown physically abusing Babes Wodumo.

"The actions of Mampintsha are repulsive and disgusting. This happens before Friday 8 March where women around the world will be commemorating International Women's Day which is a focal point for women's rights.

"Women deserve to live full and healthy lives, free of all forms of violence against their bodies and emotions," said EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi in a statement.

EFF calls on all South Africans to do a public arrest of Mampintsha when they see him and take him to a police station.

"This is so he can answer for his crimes of woman abuse.

"We send our solidarity to Babes Wodumo and encourage all women who find themselves in the same situation never to be silenced or threatened, but to speak out against violence.

"Society must defend itself against women abuse, regardless of who the perpetrator is."

The ANC in Gauteng said it is enraged at the abhorrent violent attack towards a well-known artist Babes Wodumo.

The ANC said violence against women and children continues to plague the society on a daily basis and requires the firm hand of the law to be meted out against perpetrators.

"We urge Babes Wodumo to lay charges against her abuser.

"We call on society to expose and report acts of violence against women and children and to offer support to victims of gender based violence who in many instances suffer in silence at the hands of abusers," Tasneem Motara.
