Unathi Responds To Critics Who Think She’s Too Old To Join Kaya FM! It was announced a few days ago that Unathi Nkayi would be making a return to radio as she joins Kaya FM.
According to several reports, Unathi will be taking over Bridget Masinga’s slot. The seasoned radio host will reportedly start in March around the time Masinga’s replacement would start.
As always, critics took to social media expressing how the 41 year old was not young enough for the radio station. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Unathi labelled her critics insecure.
“People who obsess about age are people who are insecure about what they have achieved at their age. Do they expect a 19-year-old to host Kaya FM? Kaya doesn’t speak to 19-years-olds, it speaks to my generation. I don’t engage in age issues. I don’t speak age,” she told the publication.
We love an unfazed queen! Congrats to Unathi!

Interestingly, Unathi, one of the three Idols SA judges, says Khaya FM doesn't speak to 19-year-olds…. This reminds us of back in 2015 when Unathi was fired by SABC after she allegedly called a 19-year-old student a “psycho b***h” in a messy Twitter spat.
The former Metro FM presenter was suspended from her breakfast show, The First Avenue, after launching a vulgar Twitter tirade against the University of the Witwatersrand student, Palomino Jama.
At the time, Jama had contributed to the trending #UnathiBeLike hashtag that was created to give examples of how Msengana’s logic apparently failed.
Jama tweeted: “Wife gets beaten by husband. Unathi: Why didn’t you become a lesbian? You married him knowing men can be abusive.”
The next morning, Jama woke up to a number of private messages from Msengana’s Twitter account, saying: “Do you think insulting me, my marriage and my sexuality is going to change your situation? You’re a f***ing idiot if so… you’re f***ing delusional if you think you can get personal. F*** your stupid mind. No amount is going to change our realities. You psycho b***h. F*** you twice over.”
Jama replied on Twitter: “Nothing warrants me being f***** twice over or being called a psycho b***h by a woman who is old enough to be my mother. Someone I had respect for.”
Although Unathi refused to apologise when pressured by SABC citing that she used offensive language against Jama in a bid to protect her marriage and family, however, two years down the line, Unathi went on to lose her marriage thanks to a messy divorce that was caused by allegations and counter-allegations of cheating and nude WhatsApp pictures.
One source says Unathi Nkayi’s marriage to Thomas Msengana broke down after she discovered that he was allegedly “sexting” a Joburg woman.
Unathi also allegedly stumbled on sexually explicit pictures of Noluthando Thando Dlalisa on Msengana’s cellphone.
Another source says it's actually Unathi who reportedly cheated first. Unathi is a compassionate judge on Idols SA. But in her marriage, she was the one under the spotlight . . .And her hubby was unhappy with her performance!
According to the mole, Bad Boy T, as her husband was affectionately called, was having sleepless nights at the thought of his wife having s2x with her personal trainer.
Said the mole at the time: “Things are bad. He smells a rat. In fact, he suspects there’s something between them and he doesn’t like it one bit.”
A second source said Bad Boy T was turned off by the idea of Unathi cheating on him.
