10 South African Child Stars Then and Now


1. Katleho Sinivasan

He is a singer, actor and television presenter. He was chosen as one of six band members on the second season of the SABC2 reality show Famous! in 2007. He also made his television debut in 2007 presenting on YoTV.

He has acted in theatre productions such as West Side stories and Journey to a Dream. He also appeared in the film Stolen Time.

In 2017 he won the E! Africa talent search which was called “The Search: E! Host South Africa.”

If you grew watching kiddies show in the early 2000s. Shows like YoTV, Kideo, KTV and so on. Perhaps you have been wondering whatever happened to your once favorite kid’s television show hosts. Here are 10 South African Child Stars Then and Now.

2. Hulisani Cecilia Ravele

She was on YOTV’s Wildroom and Big Breakfast. She was also known as Cece which many might remember her by that name.

In 2008 she completed he B.Comm Marketing Management Degree and has been doing great things in the media, marketing and film industries. She is also currently a radio presenter on Capricorn FM.

3. Wright Ngubeni

He began his career at the age of 5 as one of the characters on the popular children’s television programme Kideo. By the age of 10, he had featured in numerous television commercials.

Generations fans might remember him as Jonathan Motene, Rhythm City fans will remember him as Thula. He has also featured in International films like the miniseries Human Cargo.

He took some time off and became a father. In 2015 he returned to host Mzansi Magic reality series Love Back, he landed the role of 5 Bob on Heist and starred as Thulani Zondi on the SABC1 sitcom Thuli noThulani.

4. Selae Thobekgale

She started her television career at the age of seven. She hosted many kid’s shows on YoTV like Wildroom, McChat and B.I.G. YO. She even got a chance to host late Nelson Mandela’s 83rd birthday celebration. She was also on Abo Mzala.

Fast forward to now she grew up and still looks the same. Perhaps she is taller, but she still looks as cute as ever.

She is currently a Strategic Director, Consultant and a motivational speaker.

5. Dineo Nchabeleng

She started of being an actor a very young and she was a presenter on YoTV’s Blue Couch which was a daily current affairs show.

Some fans will remember her for her role as Angela Mogale on the SABC1 soap opera Generations. She has also had roles on Dream World, End Game, Gold Diggers, Mi Kasi Su Kasi, Mzansi Love, Single Guyz, Soul City and is currently on E.TV telenovela Ring of Lies.

She took some time off acting to be a mother but has since returned to the small screen.

6. Roxy Burger

She is an actor and television presenter who will probably be recognised by those that had M-Net as a presenter on KTV.

She began her career at the age of ten with some television commercials, movies and television series.

Her other television roles were on 10 Over 10, All That BS, Check-Coast, High Rollers, Is That a Fact?, Strictly Come Dancing season 7 & season 8, Survivor South Africa, Top Billing, Top Chef South Africa and The Search: E! Host South Africa as a guest judge.

In 2014 she got married and is now a mother to a cute baby girl.

In 2017 she started hosting E! Africa reality makeover series How Do I Look? South Africa.

7. Musa Mthombeni

He is an actor, radio presenter and television presenter who is best known for presenting numerious YoTV shows like Wildroom, Blue Couch, O-Zone, Big Breakfast, ME TV, Friday Face Off and Let’s Get Quizzical.

He has worked on radio for Wits FM and YFM.

His television acting roles were on eKazi: Our Stories and Intersexions.

In 2017 he joined the panel of the SABC3 talk show Trending SA.

He is also a qualified medical doctor.

8. Carly Fields

She is a television presenter, actor and a voiceover artist who we remember for hosting YoTV Wildroom.

She started presenting from the age of 14 on kid shows like Disney’s Roadhog, Disney’s Cartoon Café and X-Attitude.

She has also done promos for brands like Coca-Cola, Telkom, ABSA, KFC, DSTV, Standard Bank and MTN.

She is also a proud mother of two girls, a Rockstar and a fitness freak.

9. Mandisa Nakana

She is a presenter who we remember as a bubbly presenter on YoTV. While were busy setting reminders to watch her on YoTV she got married and moved the UK to start a new family. She now goes by the name Mandisa Nakana Taylor.

I read reports that she was studying a degree and she started a YouTube blog channel called Mandisa’s Virtues Pick.

10. Sade Giliberti

She is an actor and television presenter who began her career at the age of seven, presenting a kids show called On The Rock. She than became a presenter on YoTV Wildroom.

Her other television roles were on 10 Over 10, Celebrity MasterChef South Africa, MTV Choice, So You Think You Can Dance, The Close Up and Survivor South Africa – Season 3 (Santa Carolina) as a contestant.

She is half Italian and half Zulu. A deadly and beautiful combination which made her one of my childhood crushes.

She moved the UK in 2015 and currently works as an actress over there. She has also found a love in photography.
