FORMER Skeem Saam actor Cornet Mamabolo was dealt a big blow when someone allegedly stole his laptop containing his creative work.
Cornet claimed in the police statement that someone stole the laptop while he was dining at the Greenstone Shopping Centre in Edenvale, Ekurhuleni. The 28-year-old, who made a name for himself as Tbose on the popular SABC1 youth drama, told police his personal computer disappeared into thin air while he was chilling at one of the eateries in the mall.
But when the SunTeam contacted Cornet, he denied it all. “I don’t know what you are talking about,” he said.
However, one of the men in blue, who is privy to his statement, said the actor was crying because the laptop contained all of his creative work.
Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said they were investigating a case of theft and no arrests had been made.
“This office confirms a case of theft and no suspect(s) have been identified,” he said.
In his statement, Cornet stated that he realised his computer was missing upon returning from the men’s room. He also declared that the total value of the lost item was estimated at around R15 000 and was insured.
“These are common crimes in the area, and police are working tirelessly with various units such as crime prevention to catch the thieves. We would like to encourage people to keep reporting these matters so we can identify the hotspots,” said an officer who asked to remain anonymous.
