Addressing the issue on Tuesday, the "Kwanqaba Umusa" singer acknowledged that he had accepted the TV role before his ordination as a pastor. He clarified that although the show recently started airing, he regrets his participation as he is now a pastor and a leader in his church.

Greetings, I would like to apologise to all those who find the role that I’m playing as Malusi in the new telenovela, Mother of All, inappropriate.

“I filmed the show before I became a pastor. As a creative, I was invited and I played the role,” said Zungu.

Zungu emphasized that the character he portrays on the show does not reflect his true self and that the story is a work of fiction. He urged his followers to move on from the controversy, stating that he did not want to see any further comments regarding the matter.

“To all those who say I love money, yes I do love money, and there is nothing wrong with that. Yes, I got paid to play in the story.

“[The] bottom line is that I am sorry to everyone who was disturbed by some of the scenes that I am playing.”

Move on, it is fiction
Thinah Zungu explained to his followers that the story is a fiction and is not a true reflection of who he is in real life.

“The show is a nice production and it is a beautiful telenovela to watch, the biggest mistake is that the show played as I serve as a pastor,” he said.

“I knew the role was going to bring a lot of talk, however, I would like for everyone to move on. I do not want to see a comment about it anymore.”

Expressing gratitude to his fans who understand the nature of his TV role, Zungu acknowledged the production's quality while emphasizing that it was simply a story being acted out.

“God bless all those who understood the whole thing, it is a story and we were acting.”

"Mother of All" also features renowned actresses Zenande Mfenyana and Thandeka Nodada, formerly of Generations and Scandal! respectively.
