FORMER Rhythm City actress Ntando Duma was left with egg on her face when an event she planned for the festive season didn’t materialise.
Ntando had organised an event scheduled for 15 December in Joburg, but it failed. Sources say she didn’t have enough moolah to pay some of Mzansi’s bigname artists she had booked.
According to some of the star’s close friends, Ntando had hoped to make the event a success.
“The event was called The Plug by Ntando Duma, but sadly it didn’t see the light of day, instead it was an epic fail, although she went on an advertising overdrive,” one friend said.
The star is also said to have lacked sponsorship to help make the event a success.
Said another friend: “The artists she had booked don’t come cheap. It was just a pipe dream for her to think she would manage an event so big and also have A-listers perform, because obviously they would want payment, which she didn’t have. Not enough tickets were bought, although they were available at Computicket."
"Maybe she’ll get sponsors next time,” a third friend said.
Ntando referred the SunTeam to the statement she had sent after the cancellation of her gig.
It reads: “Good day fellow pluggers, it is with great disappointment that we have to announce that the show has been postponed due to security concerns. To the thousands that have already bought the tickets, kindly please keep them safe, as they will be applicable next year.”
