Accidents re-unite Kelly Khumalo and former boyfriend Jub Jub who was the first to impregnate her


As the festive season fast approaches and many will be driving to holiday destinations.

Rapper and ex-convicted motivational Speaker Molemo “Jub-Jub” Maarohanye has joined forces with his ex-girlfriend and mother of his son Kelly Khumalo and other celebrities in campaigning against a rising death toll of on South African roads.

The campaign titled ‘Asifikeni’ will be led by the Gauteng Department of Community Safety and Blackbrain Pictures’ to promote road safety and put an end to road fatalities.

Jub Jub says he has learned the hard way when he committed a crime that caused so much pain to many people after he killed four schoolchildren and severely injured two in an accident in 2012 while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

“I would like to encourage South Africans to be more vigilant and responsible on the roads,” he says.Happy to be working with the Asifikeni team, Kelly Khumalo and MEC of Community Safety in Gauteng, Jubu Jub says, using his voice and platform to effect change.“

"I know the tragedy of losing people you love, also having been the perpetrator, I urge all South Africans to be responsible and be safe,” he says.

Award-winning singer Kelly Khumalo, like Jub Jub, believes that the roads can be safer if communities’ people took extra care on the roads to not drink and drink. “This campaign is very close to my heart. We have all lost loved ones or know someone who has lost a loved one due to a car accident. Let us be extra careful on the roads and stay sober behind the wheel at all times,” she says.

Asifikeni is a campaign started by Blackbrain Pictures, co-owner Mandla N to help keep the roads safe. Mandla says “texting while driving, drinking drunk serve as distractions to the driver are totally unwelcome and they are how we mostly lose loved ones. Let us be safe.”

Other celebrities in the campaign include Dineo Nchabeleng, DJ Sabby and Nelisiwe Sibiya.
