The actress also got candid about how she did not feel comfortable in her own skin, "when you are growing up in a place where everybody notices that you are darker than dark people, and you are actually like night, and they would make sure you know it," she explained.
She then went on to say that people would tell her that she is very ugly because of her skin complexion and that she had to grow out of feeling bad about people's opinions about her.
Maumela then went on to say that Duma ka Ndlovu once told her that she is a very beautiful black African woman and her life changed instantly, " I started looking at myself in the mirror and started seeing the beauty in myself."
In the same interview, Maumela reflected on how her journey as a pastor began, the actress said: “I think when it comes to preaching, I started in 2004…I had a calling but you know…, you don’t wanna…I was invited to a church but it was not for preaching, it was for singing, so when I got there, this man just announced that I would be preaching that evening, so that was the beginning, so from then on people just started inviting me for preaching…Sunday life for me is basically church, singing, a lot of dancing…a whole lot of dancing, too much dancing until we’re tired then preaching."
