After receiving major backlash for a video shared of Sbahle Mpisane from her hospital bed, the Mpisane family have released a statement addressing the matter.
Sbahle who has been recovering in hospital for over a month after being involved in a horror car crash on 9 August became a topic of discussion on Tuesday afternoon.
The TV personality’s brother, Andile, shared a video of her thanking fans for the overwhelming support. However, the video was deleted on Wednesday morning after “malicious attacks” on the family.
While some fans rejoiced over her recovery so far, others slammed the family for sharing the video in which she “didn’t seem well”.
A statement, apparently from the Mpisane family, started doing the rounds on social media on Wednesday afternoon. As the video caused so much controversy, the family split and turned tables against Sbahle’s brother who had shared the video.
Celebgossip.co.za has it on good authority that while most family members were rebuking Andile for posting the video, others however defended him and said Sbahle had allegedly consented hence there was nothing wrong.
In the statement the family said they had no knowledge that the video was shared and that she was “heavily sedated” at the time.
“The Mpisane family and friends would like it to be known that yesterday’s video was taken and posted without our knowledge or consent. It is unfortunate that she has been exploited in this manner. We wish to inform the public that Sbahle was heavily medicated and had no comprehension of what was going on. She still has a long road to full recovery.
“We are extremely proud of her progress and fighting spirit thus far. We thank you all for your love, support and prayers for our Fitness Bunnie. She loves and appreciates you all. We continue to ask for privacy,” read the statement.
