After years of being told her face was ugly, Zodwa Wabantu has finally made peace with the self-doubt that caused and wholeheartedly loves every part of herself.
Zodwa is one of the celebs who are featured in this year’s Marie Claire’s naked issue, which focuses on body positivity.
In a personalized letter to herself, which forms part of the feature Zodwa wrote about how people’s comments made her believe for the longest time that she wasn’t beautiful.
“Dear body, I’m sorry for the times I’ve hated you, especially the face. You’re good to me- I mean it. You’re soft and curvy, and full of a life lived well (according to me that is). And that is all I could ever want from you. To live life well. Thank you Zodwa Wabantu,” reads the letter.
Zodwa told TshisaLIVE that people often praised her body but called her face “ugly and manly”.
“They would always say to me, ‘You have a beautiful, sexy body but you have such an ugly face.’ So that’s why I thanked this brave face of mine, because at the end of the day, it is my face and I love it, I really do,” she said.
