Controversial South African musician and actress Kelly Khumalo has responded to Advocate Malesela Teffo’s claim that she is the one who shot and killed former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana Goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa. The Asine hitmaker was speaking on the latest episode of her reality show which aired on Showmax on Tuesday 2 August.
Advocate Teffo who represents four of the five people accused of killing Senzo Meyiwa, vows to get justice for his clients by securing the arrests of the seven people, including singer Kelly Khumalo, her sister Zandile and their mother, who were “present in the Vosloorus house and witnessed the murder”.
Senzo Meyiwa who was a goalkeeper for Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates was shot dead in October 2014 while at musician Kelly Khumalo's mother's house in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni. The two were in a relationship and had a child. Khumalo and others in the house at the time claimed Meyiwa was killed in a robbery gone wrong.
He accused Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela of being biased and unprofessional and said he refused to be a part of a system that had become a circus.
“There is a trial of seven people that should come but the court doesn't want us to go there. I am now going to pay full attention to case 375,” he said.
Case 375 is the second Meyiwa case opened in 2019 led by Lieutenant Joyce Buthelezi. The investigation concluded that there was no intruder, but that there were eight adults in the house including the deceased.
“The current docket was quashed and they brought it to life because they want to protect the people who were in that house.
“The house is being protected like a national key point. If Parliament was named after the lady in that house, that parliament would not have burned down because the name of this lady is so protected,” Teffo said.
Advocate Malesela Teffo even told the high court in Pretoria that he is willing to bring forth a witness who would testify that Khumalo allegedly killed the Bafana Bafana star “by mistake”.
Teffo claimed that after Meyiwa had been shot, a meeting was held between the people in the house and high-ranking police officers, as well as former Gauteng community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malubane.
According to Teffo, who did not substantiate his claims, a plan was hatched at the meeting to conceal the truth about Meyiwa’s death and stage the scene so that those in the house would not be held responsible.
Now, through her reality TV show, Kelly Khumalo has addressed Advocate Malelsela Teffo’s claim that she “mistakenly” shot Senzo Meyiwa who was her boyfriend and baby father, although he was a married man.
The Empini hitmaker slammed Advocate Teffo and expressed that she thinks he is desperate for attention.
“This is very disturbing. Extremely disturbing. There’s so many scenarios that South Africa has had. How desperate can one be to try and put me in jail for something that I did not do? My thing is that, that Advocate is desperate for attention,” she said.
“And he knows that everytime he mentions my name, he trends. Everytime he gets up ‘my lord, Kelly Khumalo’. Argue. Make your submissions. We are here to find out the truth about what happened to my daughter’s father,” she continued.
Kelly’s friends head over to her home to cheer her up but she broke down in tears. She then vented in her piece-to-camera.
“It went from Longwe and Zandie fighting into me … buying people. Me paying for people that I met at the mall. Now, she pulled the trigger,”
