Little educated IdolsSA judges Somizi and Thembi Seete's educational qualifications break the internet

‘I love her energy, it’s contagious’: Thembi Seete has become a fan-favourite following the first episode of ‘Idols SA’ season 18.

The first episode of Idols SA season 18 premiered on Sunday 17 July and new judge Thembi Seete has already become a fan-favourite. The new season also welcomed music executive JR Bogopa and reality star Somizi Mhlongo, who was on the previous season but took time off after his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung, accused him of abuse.

Legendary musicians Thembi Seete and JR Bogopa replaced former Idols SA judges Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams who left after the season 17 finalé. According to Channel24, Mzansi Magic said it was not renewing Nkayi and Abrahams’ contracts.

The reality singing competition is one of the most viewed shows in Mzansi. However, after the airing of Idols SA season, 18 Twitter users have been trolling its judges for being uneducated.

It is preached that education is the key to success. There is some truth to it as education, degrees and certificates come as an advantage in Some industries.

However some industries like the entertainment industry require those with certificates and those without. A lot of celebrities are not educated but some of them a filthy rich.

Multi talented, choreographer, television host, radio host, actor, reality TV star and Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo is one of those people who made it despite not having a Matric Certificate.

Last year Somizi wished if he had a Matric Certificate as that would have made it easier for him to operate his Smeg coffee machine. At the time, Somizi and Mohale uploaded a video on Instagram where Somizi was trying to read the user manual of the coffee machine.

Somizi captioned the video,” Tjo this coffee machine just reminded me that I don’t have matric.” Mohale added a caption as well he wrote, “The coffee machine is dribbling hubby @somizi.”

Well, education does not always make one successful; sometimes, one needs to discover their talent and gifts to be successful. There is no one path to success, and Somizi and Thembi have proved that education is not the only path to victory.

Many believe that education is the key to success, but they are other South African celebrities who have made it without education. Some couldn’t go to school for different reasons, but they still became super successful and made some serious cash along the way. Here is a look at Idols SA judges Somizi Mhlongo and Thembi Seete’s educational qualifications.

It will be a sin to talk about outstanding entertainers in South Africa without bringing Somizi into the equation. He is a superstar who has a cabinet of awards as a testament to his skills. Although Somizi is a phenomenal entertainer, he doesn’t have matric and nothing much is known about his education.

Somizi Mhlongo was born in Soweto to the late South African actress Mary Twala and actor and comedian Ndaba Mhlongo. He was thrust into the limelight when he played the role of Fire but was nicknamed “Whacko in Sarafina. Since his role in Sarafina, Somizi took the entertainment industry by storm, showing no signs of slowing down.

Actress Thembi Seete was born in Soweto, and her father died when she was a teenager. She then moved to Sebokeng in the Vaal, where she stayed with her aunt and uncle. Although Thembi is a phenomenal entertainer, there is no history of her educational qualifications. She is the epitome of dynamite that comes in small packages, her body is small, yet she is a megastar entertainer.

Her musical journey marked her road to fame after being part of the kwaito Boom Shaka group. She went solo after the group split in 2000 after being formed in 1994. After being a solo singer, Thembi discovered her calling in acting for years, and we can all agree that she is a great actress after slaying her role on Gomora, where she plays Gladys.
