THE good times are rumoured rolling for TV and radio personality, Somizi Mhlongo. This comes after SomGAGA, as Somizi is popularly known, and his fiance Mohale Motaung are said to be laughing all the way to the bank.
According to insiders, the two have allegedly scored a deal worth millions of rands with Mzansi Magic for the rights for a live broadcast of their upcoming gay wedding.
An informant said the Idols SA judge had signed a deal worth R3 million.
Claimed the informant: "Their gay wedding will be broadcast live on national TV. Mzansi Magic signed the deal with them because the channel knows SomGAGA will attract viewers. He’s already on their channel, thanks to his TV shows Living The Dream With Somizi and Idols SA. So, this was an easy decision for the channel to make.”
Concluded the source: “Mohale is getting a share of the cash because they are a couple.”
The second source told the news Team that preparations for what was expected to be an extravagant affair were underway.
Asserted the mole: “Everyone knows that SomGAGA is over the top. So, the wedding is expected to be no different. It’ll obviously be a star-studded affair because Somizi has a lot of celebrity friends who are close to him. In terms of the preparations, they’re both very hands-on, and are excited about being married to one another.”
Insisted a third source: “Because they know the live broadcast of the wedding will draw advertisers, there might be a base figure, on top of which advertisers may pay for the rest of the affair. This means SomGAGA will also get money for the adverts aired during the broadcast of his wedding.”
According to the source, the wedding was expected to take place in December.
“But they haven’t sent invites because Mohale’s family still has issues about the relationship. We aren’t sure if they’ll attend the wedding,” the source said.
The two got engaged at the Eiffel Towers in France earlier this year. Late last year, Sunday Sun reported that Mohale’s family was against Somizi dating him, arguing that he was too young for SomGAGA. Their relationship also angered Mohale’s ex-lover, advocate Dlakula Ntombela, who accused Somizi of snatching his lover.
Said M-Net head of marketing and publicity, Nondumiso Mabece: “Somizi Mhlongo is a member of the Mzansi Magic family. We don’t have a contract to broadcast his wedding, but we’d be honoured to share in the celebration of his special day.”
Both Somizi and Mohale were not available for comment. They also failed to respond to our SMSes and WhatsApp messages.
