Masechaba is bitter because Jub Jub turned her down – More details emerge as Jub Jub sues over rape

All gloves are off as TV presenter and musician Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye (41) prepares to sue media darling and ex-girlfriend Amanda Du Pont (33) and Arts and Culture spokesperson Masechaba Khumalo (38) who both claimed to have been raped by him.

Amanda alleged the rape happened for two years “solidly” while in a relationship with Jub Jub.

“I was raped, physically and emotionally abused for two years by Jub Jub. The only thing I did wrong was keeping quiet,” she told her followers on social media after Jub Jub appeared on the Podcast and Chill interview on Channel O talking about his relationship with Amanda.

Masechaba followed with a tweet saying she believes Amanda and she too was raped by Jub Jub. “I believe Amanda Du Pont. Molemo Maarohanye raped me too. It happened in Mama Jackie's house in Naturena. He was my boyfriend. I was a teenager. I was a virgin.”

Jub Jub has since been suspended from his job on Uyajola 99 on Moja Love.

In a statement released by the Maaronhanye family spokesperson, Andile Ngcobo, Jub Jub will be taking legal action against Amanda Du Pont and Masechaba Khumalo.

“Our son, Celebrated TV Presenter and musician Molemo 'Jub Jub' Maarohanye and family have noted with serious concerns disparaging allegations leveled against him by Amanda Du Pont following his interview on MacG's popular podcast n chill. First, it must be noted that his statements confirming intimate details about his romantic relationship with her in society was never meant to embarrass nor shame Ms Amanda Du Pont, but part of him owning up to his past, including his relationships, which he can't change or deny,” the statement reads.

Andile says Jub Jub is shocked by the claims made by Amanda Du Pont and Masechaba.

“However, the musician and TV reality show Presenter has been gobsmacked by claims which have now gone viral on social media claiming that our son has sexually and physically abused Ms. Amanda Du Pont during the cause of their romantic relationship. It is unfortunate that these heavy allegations are false and fake, as a family we met Amanda Du Pont when our son introduced her to us we accepted her as one of our own. Amanda also introduced our son to her father. During their relationship, they had mutual respect and understanding, love and support.”

He categorically states that the claims made by Amanda are false.

“The claims and serious allegations by Ms. Du Pont were clearly concocted to injure and defame our son’s name which he is working hard to safeguard. In as far as Ms. Masechaba Khumalo’s allegations are concerned our son has never had any romantic relationship with her, instead what we know is that she was the one pursuing our son and he turned her down.”

The statement touches on the state of violence in South Africa especially related to gender-based violence.

“South Africa is currently dealing with a serious pandemic of Gender-Based Violence, and it's concerning to have such popular figures abusing a serious matter as GBV to tarnish someone's name all in the name of punishment because he revealed certain aspects of their romantic relationship which they might have not wanted others to know.”

Andile says all intimate moments with Amanda were consensual. “It is important to mention that all sexual relations that happened during the course of our son’s relationship with Ms. Du Pont were all consensual and there was never any incident of abuse as claimed by her in her public statement. Molemo, our son, and his management team would not leave the claims unattended and have since taken a decision to serve Amanda Du Pont, Ms. Maschaba Khumalo, Refilwe Khumalo, and Bonokuhle Nkala with letters of demands with clear instructions that they should retract the unfounded allegations made against him, and ultimately apologise for their claims. Failure to adhere to the instructions will see our son, who like any SA Citizen whose constitutional rights have been infringed, go the legal route to clear his name.”

Not only do they plan to sue Amanda, but Jub Jub could be soon opening a case of crimen injuria and defamation against his other accusers, Masechaba Khumalo, Bonoluhle Nkala and Refilwe Khumalo, who, according to Jub Jub's family, "have been pulled in to campaign against our son by Amanda Du Pont on her social media page".

“Their claims have damaged our son’s reputation, infringed his rights to privacy and dignity. It’s also poignant that we also highlight that Judge Brian Spilg of the South Gauteng High court presided over a similar case in the matter between DJ Fresh and Ntsiki Mazwai, during which he cautioned people not to abuse social media to make unfounded and irresponsible claims of GBV which could not be backed up by any facts or evidence,” Andile says.

"The judge ruled against Ms. Mazwai and ordered her to pay DJ Fresh R200 000 in damages excluding legal fees which are believed to be in the region on R 500 000. She was also ordered to remove the damaging claims on all her social media platforms, and we have no doubt that the same fate will befall Ms. Du Pont, Masechaba, and anyone’s outrageous and irresponsible claims made without any facts or truth to them.”
