Bishop Makamu bounces back to Moja Love after asking for sex from a young girl (17)

After months of drama and voluntarily stepping down from his show, Rea Tsotella on Moja Love, said Bishop Makamu’s future at channel is secured.

Head of channel at Moja Love Bokani Moyo said they have welcomed the decision by the NPA to withdraw the charges against the show’s host, whose real name is Isreal Makamu.

“We welcome and respect the NPA’s decision regarding this matter,” said Bokani.

“After careful consideration and evaluation, the channel decided to reinstate Bishop Makamu to continue hosting Rea Tsotella. This follows a mediation that was led by a professional between the parties involved, where they reconciled and agreed on a way forward. Bishop Makamu is great at his job and our audiences love him,” she said.

In a surprise move, the 21-year-old woman who accused popular TV host Bishop Israel Makamu of sexually abusing her recently asked the state to drop the charges. Makamu made headlines recently when a voice recording in which he was heard making sexual advances to the woman surfaced online.

A week after the audio clip came to light, the woman – who cannot be named for legal reasons – claimed that Makamu attempted to force himself on her at his Endless Hope Bible Church premises in Alberton on the East Rand.

She was 17 years old at the time.

A few days ago, the NPA revealed that it has withdrawn the sexual assault case against Makamu.

This after he was accused of asking for a poke from one of his congregants, who was also working for him at the time. A few months ago, a voice recording went viral, and in the recording the bishop can be heard asking the young lady “o tlo mpha ngwanaka?”

Through a statement, NPA spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane said that the prosecution against Bishop Israel Makamu was withdrawn following a consultation session with the complainant.

“After careful consideration of all evidence and the mediation process between the complainant and Makamu, the NPA is convinced that the interest of justice dictates that prosecution no longer be pursued,” read part of the statement.

When reached for comment, Makamu said he cannot comment on the matter at the time as he has not yet seen the statement by Moja Love on his future on the show.
