South African national treasure, Babes Wodumo, has beefed up her security.
The Gqom queen was spotted traveling with bodyguards when she went to support Mampintsha at a West Ink concert this weekend.
The concert, which saw Babes, Mampintsha, DJ Tira and Zakwe on the roster, was intended to support Mampintsha during what appearers to be troubled times. The concert was fittingly dubbed ‘We Love West Ink’ and although Babes has love for the label, that love comes with terms and conditions.
One of those terms appears to be heightened security.
According to Daily Sun, Babes Wodumo was accompanied by a group of serious-looking bodyguards who refused to leave her side at any point throughout the night.
And how did Mampintsha, her ex, take this?
According to the same report, although the two former lovers stood within “inches” of each other, they didn’t exchange a single word on the night. As well as this, Babes’ bodyguards were ever-present.
Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha’s relationship is in an extremely complicated space at the moment. In May 2018, during an explosive interview on Metro FM, Babes Wodumo admitted that Mampintsha had physically abused her on several occasions during the time they had been dating.
However, since then Mampintsha has both apologised and claimed that the two are still together (something Babes has not clarified herself).
The plot thickened ever so slightly when Mampintsha called for budding actors to audition for a role in an upcoming music video.
The role? One young actor will play Babes, while another will play Mampintsha. Something tells me we haven’t heard the last of their dramatic story.
