Somizi Mhlongo has been hit with a letter of demand for R5 million, for comments he made about musician Dumisani Eric Mbeko, also known as ‘Eric D’.

According to the Daily Sun, Eric says the Idols SA judge made “untrue” allegations about him in his autobiography, Dominoes: Unbreakable Spirit.

The book was a major hit when it was released in June last year, with Somizi revealing personal details about his life.

In one section of the book, Somizi talks about his first gay encounter, which happened after he attended a talent show.

“I bumped into someone that I looked up to at that time. He was a local musician known as Eric D, whose disco music kept local dance floors alive back in the 1980s. He used to sing with the late Brenda Fassie and even dated her at some point. Eric came with his girlfriend or fiancée. I never checked,” he writes in the book.

Somizi claims that after the show he went to Eric D’s house with his fiancée, and the trio all slept in the same bed. Things then got very steamy.

“My heart throbbing and loins on fire, the scent of a man and the prickly hairy legs fired me up. It was my first time having a physical connection with a male. We fondled. I was actually the one touching him and he touched me back, sending me into a tizz of ecstacy.

“There was not much we could do, because on the other side of the bed slept his girlfriend, the thought of having a bite of this forbidden fruit felt so good, the fondling and the rubbing was enough.”

Eric D has refuted the claims and is demanding that Somizi retract the allegations
He also wants the reality star and Lesley Mofokeng, who co-wrote the autobiography, to make a public apology.

“Our instructions are that you, Somizi Buyani Mhlongo, together with Lesley Mofokeng, published a book titled Dominoes, and in said book on page 44 there are allegations made wherein it is stated that our client and Mr Mhlongo had fondled and touched while sharing a bed… These allegations are untrue,” the publication quoted Eric D’s lawyers as saying in the letter of demand.

Eric D says he was humiliated by the claims
“Our client has therefore instructed us to demand compensation for this defamation,” the letter reads.

When approached for comment, Somizi told the Daily Sun it was the first time he had heard about the letter of demand.

He referred all queries to his manager.
