King Arthur Mafokate has enjoyed ruling over Kwaitodom and its people for years. But now the throne is under threat . . .and the king of kwaito fears for his life!
The situation is so dire that he has even threatened to pull out of the organisations, in which he serves as a board member in a bid to save his life. According to the King of Kwaito, the death threats started when he resigned from the boards of the Association of Independent Record Companies of South Africa and the South African Music Industry Council.
And although they subsided, Arthur claims the threats have resurfaced. This was after his appointment to the boards of the Recording Industry of South Africa and the Moshito and Southern African Music Rights Organisation – over popular showbiz veterans.
Speaking to the SunTeam this week, Arthur said: “Yes! I get a lot of threats, but I’m not there for positions. Hence when I’m not comfortable in any board I resign. My family has previously asked me to resign from these boards because I’m opposed to people looting money there.”
Arthur refused to name and shame, insisting the truth would come out one day.
When asked why he didn’t open a case with police, he said: “I’m still considering my options at this stage. I need to unmask the people behind this.”
Informants said the recent round of threats to Arthur’s life began when the King of kwaito questioned the mismanagement of funds in the music industry.
He said corporate governance was unheard of in most organisations.
About his plight, Arthur said he was consulting with his lawyers to deal with the character assassination claims by his rivals
