"RIP papa. Thank you for everything."
"I see some people are confused about this post. "
"I know i don't need to explain myself but just to put the facts out, this man was not my biological father but he lived with my mom for years & he has been the man in my mom's life for years hence he is my dad. RIP Papa Edgar," he said.
The 71-year-old had been ill for a long time.
According to Family representative Muzuki Phoolo he died at around 10:30am at a Joburg hospital on Saturday.
"The family still needs to finalise funeral details but it will be held in Mahikeng, hopefully this coming Saturday," she said.
Dikgole was one of the people who started the black commercial station in 1981. He launched the careers of many household names, including Lawrence Dube, Pearl Moatshe, bob Mabena and Tim Modise.
His former colleague Modisane Modise said Edgar had done a lot for the industry.
"He was a man who when he was behind the mic, the voice would rock you. He was a connector," he said.
Modisane said Dikgole was a no-nonsense programmes manager and presenter but he was never properly recognised for his work."The man contributed so much but was not appreciated. That is the problem of South Africans, the only time when a person is appreciated is when they are dead," he said.
