Actress Buhle Samuels believes that her partnership with lingerie brand Bras N Things will help other curvy women to embrace, love and celebrate their figures, and spoil themselves with lingerie that makes them feel comfortable and confident.
The 30-year-old, who plays the fierce Matshidiso on the SABC2 soap opera Muvhango, has partnered with Bras N Things, which creates “high-quality, ontrend lingerie, sleepwear and swimwear fashion to suit women across all stages of life and for all body shapes”.
She says the partnership means a lot to her because growing up as a curvy girl led to her being bodyshamed, which resulted in her being uncomfortable with her body shape.
“I am not perfect. I have my own imperfections. I am not skinny; I have cellulite and a big bum. As women, sometimes we feel ashamed of our body shapes.
“With this partnership, I am able to help other curvy women celebrate and feel good about themselves,” Samuels says.
She adds that another aim of the partnership is make curvy women aware and accept that “you are perfect just as you are”.
“What we wear can help us feel good, and lingerie is one of those things.
“It’s an intimate experience that you have with yourself [underneath your] clothes.
“I am the perfect fit to work with such a phenomenal and historical lingerie brand as Bras N Things. This partnership means a lot to me.
“I just love everything about the lingerie line. It speaks to every woman, from every different walk of life,” the actress says.
She shares her joy and pride in the responses that she has been getting from other women.
“What we have achieved so far with Bras N Things makes me proud.
“I’m glad that, when I have conversations with women, they are able to share their stories with me about how amazing they feel after having found the perfect fit of bra or underwear.”
Samuels has always embraced her body publicly.
In February, she broke the local internet when she posted sizzling pictures and a video of herself wearing sexy underwear on Instagram and Twitter.
Tweeps crowned her South Africa’s sexiest woman of the year.
“Once women have regained their confidence and self-love, and they feel comfortable about themselves, then I will have achieved my goals.”
