A former Kaizer Chiefs defender has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 33!

Godfrey Walusimbi is the player who has decided to call it quits after ‘falling out of love’ with the game, reads a statement.

He played for Chiefs between 2018 and 2019, but barely lasted a season despite huge expectations when he first arrived from Kenyan giants Gor Mahia.

Walusimbi’s departure from Chiefs was triggered by the club’s decision to de-register him in order to accommodate Daniel Akpeyi.

Upon his departure from Amakhosi, Walusimbi moved abroad where he signed with Albanian outfit KF Vllaznia Shkoder.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR EX-KAIZER CHIEFS DEFENDER AFTER RETIREMENT?

Walusimbi confirmed in the statement that he will now venture either into coaching or management, and he has already made strides in that regard.

The 33-year-old Ugandan is reported to be in possession of the CAF C Licence, and perhaps he could be tempted to add more badges to his name.

Walusimbi remains the most capped player in the history of the Uganda national team with 108 appearances under his belt.

At Kaizer Chiefs, Walusimbi made 17 appearances with a single assist to his name and no goal.
