IdolsSA presenter and producer Proverb has denied on Twitter stealing a concept for a TV show from aspiring producer Mmami Masobe.
Over the weekend, Mmami posted screenshots of a conversation between herself and Proverb, in which she apparently sent him a proposal for a reality show where people go on dates with their favourite celebrities.
Next thing she knew, she said, she was seeing a social media post by Proverb in which he announced a project that apparently sounded similar to her idea.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Proverb – whose real name is Tebogo Thekiso – said: “As you know, since last year I’ve been sitting on the board of a travel company. We’ve been trying to come up with a concept and we settled on CelebEXP. The concept is to sell travel experiences hosted by celebrities. I want to be clear. This is not a TV programme, let alone a reality or dating show. It’s a travel experience hosted by celebrities, and it won’t be shown on any TV channel.”
He didn’t deny receiving a pitch from Masobe in April, but insisted his idea had nothing in common with hers.
When the SunTeam contacted Masobe, she said: “I don’t feel comfortable talking to you about this matter.”
