Award-winning musician and songwriter Samthing Soweto’s latest album Isiphithiphithi has gone platinum in just two months.
The muso has enjoyed immense success with his first venture into Amapiano and he has managed to hit both gold and platinum in just a short space of two months.
The artist took to social media to note his achievement and thanked his fans for their support.

In commemoration, and to also to promote the successes of the Afro-pop and Amapiano singer, artist services company Platoon and London- and South African-based artists created a street mural of Samthing Soweto.
Dbongz, who is a street artist, painted a mural of the Akulaleki hitmaker in Fox Street, Johannesburg, and can will only be up until 22 November.
Speaking to DRUM, Samthing Soweto said he is very happy and pleasantly surprised about the album doing very well in such a short period of time.
“I really wanted this to happen, it is exactly what I needed and as for the mural on Fox Street – it is amazing. Thank you Platoon South Africa for commissioning it.”
When asked why he chose to go for the Amapiano feel with his recent record, he told DRUM that he has always wanted his music to be played in places where people gather and often the soundtrack of those places is the “yano’s.”
“I would love to thank my fans for the continued support throughout I appreciate it, (Ningenza umuntu ebantwini) you’ve uplifted me and made me what I am today.”
Fans also took to social media to congratulate the hitmaker on his achievement.
