Facials are the go-to for most people who want healthy, flawless-looking skin but after two people contracted HIV from the treatment, people may want to be extra cautious when doing the treatment.
According to Cosmopolitan, officials in New Mexico, USA, are investigating a spa in the area after two people contracted the virus after vampire facials were done on them. Upon investigations, the New Mexico department of health discovered that the virus was the same in both people, which could mean that it could have been contracted through the needle used at the spa.
The spa has reportedly been closed down.
A vampire facial is also called platelet-rich plasma injections, which is a procedure where the patient’s blood is taken and processed in a centrifuge with activating factors to treat a wide range of complaints such as dull, dry skin; fine lines; thinning skin; saggy skin; hair loss; pigmentation marks; and uneven skin tone.
Vampire facials are also quite popular among celebrities such as Kim Kardashian West as well as Zodwa Wabantu who did the facial for the first in June.
