The Randburg Magistrate’s Court has given Lalla Hirayama a protection order against her father, who she claims to be abusive, it has been reported.
Sunday World, has reported that Lalla made an application to the court requesting a restraint order against her father, after the two got into a fight, with her dad threatening to destroy her career.
It is reported the fight nearly destroyed her chance to cover the Rugby World Cup in Japan for SuperSport.
In court documents she filed, Lalla claimed her father, Lance Cooper was in the habit of treating her mom and grandfather badly.
“My father is known to consistently carry weapons such as knives, blades, axes, daggers and knuckle dusters on his person and has expressed his desires and consistent attempts to acquire a gun,” read part of the court papers.
Lalla begged the court to take away all weapons from him and to order him to stop contacting them telephonically or via social media.
The TV personality, currently in Japan, tweeted just before she left that she was happy to take her mom with her.
“Today I leave for Japan for a 2 month work trip of which I am so very grateful for It has come at a time when getting away from a dangerous personal situation at home is also a big blessing. I have been fortunate to take my mother with me, to ensure that she is safe,” she wrote just before her departure.
Lalla who is now happy to be away from her abusive dad, bemoaned the ineffectiveness of protection orders, and she wrote;
“Restraining orders are unfortunately only pieces of paper, at the end of the day,” she tweeted.
