On Monday, 29 July 2019, South African musician, Kelly Khumalo, fell victim to social media accusations following news of Sam Meyiwa’s passing. The topic ‘RIP Sam Meyiwa’ trended on Twitter following news of his death after suffering a stroke.

On Monday, 10 June 2019, Kelly Khumalo shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram saying that she was treated unfairly as a woman following false accusations that she had knowledge regarding the murder of her daughter’s father, Senzo Meyiwa. Explaining that she was being falsely accused, Kelly admitted that the only thing she was guilty of was “falling in love with a dishonest married man”.
