Former Isidingo and Scandal actress Kgomotso Christopher speaks on her love life and how they met

Have you ever waited all day long for a call, and then find no words or what to say in answer when the phone finally rang?

Such was the case with Kgomotso Christopher who once acted in SABC3’s Isidingo as Katlego Sibeko for a long time before leaving the show in 2016 when she ventured into the unknown, she opens up on her acting career and love life.

She almost quit the acting business altogether, but as if to confirm the old saying, 'once an actor, always an actor,' she found herself in another play role after joining the Rockville, and is happy that she could still execute it well.

She is so proud in having a supporting family, unlike other instances in which spouses become jealous when their wives or husbands play love scenes on TV, her husband is not like that. He even helps her during practice for different roles.

Kgomotso at one time declined to take up a role to play an old character, as she thought she was too young for the role. She doubted her ability to fake age on screen, to the extent that the viewers believe.

The character, Yvonne, is a 50-something old granny, and Kgomotso in her 40s believed she was too young for such a character. But the producers believed otherwise, they were adamant she was the right person and put their best efforts for it to come out as desired.

“They said they would find a way to build it so that when people see me, they see a mature woman who is also naughty. So, I had to trust them. And I’m so grateful they had the faith in me,” tells DRUM.

Speaking on her love life, Kgomotso is happy with her husband who is so accommodating, supports and help her with rehearsals.

The two met as students at the University of Cape Town, where American-born Calvin was an exchange student from Princeton University, and will be celebrating 15 years together; this year.

Kgomotso is at peace with her long-distance marriage, which also give her time to travel widely. “This is the kind of relationship I wanted to have – one where I get to explore the world with my family,” she tells the local magazine.

The arts runs in family blood, like mother like daughter, one of her children Larona is an ardent arts lover and plays the flute.

Kgomotso will not force her own career on Larona, like some mothers would like to do, instead, she is prepared to render her daughter all the support, and would love to see her excel in her chosen area of speciality.
