Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, a member of Big Nuz, passed away on December 24 following a minor stroke. Babes Wodumo has been candid about her mourning process on various social media platforms.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Babes described seeing her husband covered with a white sheet that had a zipper.

"When I got to the hospital, they had covered him in a white sheet with a zipper," she recounted tearfully.

"I told them, 'My man can't breathe,' and they unzipped the bag. I was there, feeling like I was losing my mind. My sister was present, as were representatives from Icebolethu Funerals. I slept for two hours… For two hours, I lay on his chest. After that time, they took him away. I went with them, continuously telling them, 'You're hurting him.' My mind wasn't in the right place. I kept searching for cameras, thinking it was all just a prank," she shared.

Following the funeral, Babes found herself confronting the stark reality of her husband's absence, now shouldering the responsibilities of being a single mother to their two-year-old son. Babes' sister, Nondumiso Simelane, disclosed that the Wololo hitmaker was grappling to come to terms with her partner's death.

"The most heart-wrenching part is the empty space in the bed and the added responsibilities she has to take on. Babes is resilient. What impresses me is that she hasn't changed who she is," Nondumiso expressed.

She revealed that in her grieving state, Babes often catches herself calling out for her beloved.

During a memorial service held in honor of the star, Babes' father reflected on the relationship between his daughter and Mampintsha.

"Babes, in her musical journey, was guided by Mampintsha. He coached and taught her because Babes used to be a model here in eThekwini. Before I knew it, Babes was in music with Mampintsha. I will always remember him because he nurtured my child into the successful star she is today. He succeeded in that," he shared.
