Phat Joe is the latest celebrity to face the wrath of black Twitter after allegedly making homophobic comments on his breakfast show, Phat Joe and the Family
In a week that has seen Zodwa Wabantu trending (and seemingly cancelled) for making offensive comments against the LGBT community, radio DJ Phat Joe is next in the firing line.
A number of listeners were left up in arms after the 44-year-old DJ appeared to lend his opinion to the #ZodwaCancelled saga by speaking on hetero-homosexual relations in South Africa (which are tense, if you haven’t already gathered).
According to a number of angry listeners, Phat Joe appeared to condemn the gay community by suggesting that he and a number of other ‘straight’ men were uncomfortable in their presence
Other listeners also suggested that Joe claimed to feel ‘disgusted’ at the prospect of being approached by gay men.
At this point it is important to clarify that, until we hear a recording of Wednesday morning’s show, we cannot take the comments as fact but Phat Joe is alleged to have said the following words on air:
Phat Joe said he feels uncomfortable and not excluding word disgusted when a man romanticises him and yes I can't call it homophobic because that how he feel and it's okay. #phatjoeandthefamily

As expected, a number of listeners have called him out for his alleged utterances but much like with Zodwa on Tuesday, many more of his fans have jumped to his defence by claiming that he is entitled to his opinion.
The popular radio and television presenter has not responded to the allegations of homophobic commentary nor has his station, Radio 2000
However the uproar around his comments has continued well into Wednesday afternoon.
Do you think that the controversial and “outspoken” DJ will apologise for offending the gay community?
