Anele Mdoda has brushed off the fat-shaming insults that have been thrown at her since she cancelled her Virgin Active membership
The radio personality revealed earlier this week that she decided to cancel her membership after the organisation withdrew its case against a man who was allegedly caught masturbating at one of its gyms.
“Nope. Didn’t like the way they handled that man who was sexually violating a woman in one of their gyms. So I decided to cancel my membership cause ke its their business after all and they can do what they want so let me remove myself 🙂 will just have to swim elsewhere,” Anele tweeted.
In May, a video of an 18-year-old man, who appeared to be fondling himself, went viral. It was claimed that the man became aroused while watching a female gym member work out.
While hundreds of social media users commended Anele on the move, some people fat shamed her.
Anele tackled the insults head-on
“Funny thing is the insults I’ve received are from black men and women calling me fat so it’s no loss to virgin active as if fat people don’t pay the monthly fee. Bottom line is my money won’t go there anymore. It’s their business, they can keep it. Wish them the best.”
