Lerato Sengadi hits back at claims she’s using HHP’s death to gain popularity

Publicist and HHP’s widow, Lerato Sengadi has come out guns blazing against the rapper’s former business partner, Seabelo Modibe for accusing her of trying to “use HHP’s death for publicity”

The fiasco started after it was announced last week that HHP would be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s SAMAs, which takes place this Saturday.

Lerato shared on social media in the wake of the news that she was incredibly proud to receive the award on HHP’s behalf.

However, this left a sour taste in Seabelo who told Sunday World that Lerato has no right to accept the award.

He also alleged that Lerato was not HHP’s legal wife.

“She must stop using Jabulani’s name for publicity, she is not Jabulani’s wife as they were not married. She cannot use the previous court order which declared her the legal wife of Jabulani because the family was granted leave to appeal by the same court.
“The leave to appeal automatically rescinds the court’s previous decision which declared her Jabu’s legitimate wife.”
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday night, Lerato released a statement in an attempt to address the allegations

She labelled Seabelo’s statements as “false”.

“It is disturbing that Mr Modibe has decided to conduct a media tour to slander my name and contribution to this award. This award is to further cement Jabba’s icon status within the music and entertainment industry and it is unfortunate that Mr Modibe would use such a celebratory occasion to mar Jabba’s illustrious career and villianise myself,” read part of the statement.

Lerato went on to explain that she emailed Risa and the SAMAs for HHP to be considered for the award, as well as, emailed his mom to keep them in the loop of what was happening despite the circumstances between them.

She added that she also emailed Leano’s (HHP’s son) grandmother to ask her to attend the SAMAs so that Leano could accept the award alongside her.

“I wish to put on record that no one but Jabba’s memory and career will benefit from this outstanding achievement, I only regret that we did not apply for this when he was with us.”
