The EFF's Dali Mpofu has said that he asked people to see if they could double vote on Election Day
He said that he heard that these "testers" were indeed able to vote multiple times, despite this being against the law
EFF national chairperson, Dali Mpofu, says that he sent people test if they could double vote, and apparently they were successful. Mpofu seemed to unwittingly admit to influencing people to commit electoral fraud. He made the comment while speaking to the media on Thursday.
Mpofu claimed that it had been proven that many people were able to vote more than once. This came after it emerged that the supposedly indelible ink used to mark voters' thumbs was, in fact, relatively easy to remove. This, coupled with the fact that the zip zip machines used to scan people's IDs did not register if a person had already voted, have led to speculation that there have been double voting in this election. Mpofou says thta, after hearing these claims, he asked some voters to go and see if they could vote multiple times. He said that he wasn't completely sure, but he heard that one of these "testers" had successfully cast their ballot more than once, according to The Citizen.
When pressed about double voting, Mpofu declared that to do so would be a crime. He added that any people who vote multiple times should be prosecuted.
We wonder if Mr Mpofu knows that sending people to double vote is a crime…
