RADIO'S comeback kid Phat Joe suffered a serious health scare that kept him out of work this week.
The DJ (real name Majota Khambule) recently joined Radio 2000’s Morning Drive show as a weekday co-host, alongside Nonala Tose.
He confirmed to Sunday Sun that he could not host his breakfast show due to illness.
“Yes, I had a medical issue, but that’s been attended to. That’s the reason I wasn’t on air. But I’ll be back at work next week Tuesday,” he said.
When asked what was bothering him, he said: “People’s medical issues are confidential. It feels weird to discuss my medical matter with a newspaper.”
Phat Joe is said to be in hospital and will spend the rest of the week there, as his condition became critical and started to affect his eyes.
Said the first mole: “He didn’t report to work from Monday. The bosses were then told he was in hospital. His eyes were red and we thought it was just an eye infection and he would get better.”
Another source said it was apparent those were signs of his condition getting worse.
“Nonala has been hosting the show alone this week. It hasn’t been said how long Phat Joe will be in hospital, but they hope he will recover and get back to work. Phat Joe is good at what he does. He was starting to settle in at the show and has a nice on-air chemistry with his co-host,” said the source.
