It’s that time of the year in South African radio where radio personalities get shuffled, fired or promoted to better shows.
Social media especially twitter has been complaining about the biggest radio station in the country, Metro FM having celebs as radio hosts, whilst we wait to see what happens end of March, get to know how much some of your favorite radio personalities are taking home per hour.
Sports host Robert Marawa has been the most paid radio host for the last year thanks to his simulcast show on Metro FM and Radio 2000. SABC head of radio Nada Wotshela reportedly wants to standardise freelance hourly rates earned by radio presenters. This is because some presenters are making more money than their shows make in revenue for the stations.
As it stands, here’s how much some of the biggest names in radio earn per hour.
– DJ Fresh from Metro FM earns R3,600 per hour
– Glen Lewis earns R3, 500 per hour
