PRESENTER and actress, Khanya Mkangisa, has come out to deny ever being involved in a “hit and run” incident that involved a high-speed chase with the police as reported in the media.
Even though she was arrested, she says there is no case or story. In an interview on Metro FM’s afternoon drive show, Khanya, gave her side of the story.
The Selimathunzi presenter was arrested after an incident in her complex where she allegedly bumped a car parked next to her. It was reported in a newspaper that she was involved in a “hit and run” incident before she was confronted and arrested in her apartment. Khanya says after she “scratched the car” she left her details. “I was parking in my parking bay and I hit the car that parks next to me. I left my details so it really wasn’t a dramatic situation. It was a little scratch,” she explains.
The Queen presenter says it wasn’t as serious as it was made out to be, even though she was arrested. “I feel I was treated unfairly. Obviously, there is an ulterior motive. The woman came to my house with cops,” she says. When asked more questions about the incident, Khanya didn’t want to go into detail even though she says there is no case and the issue was sorted. The owner of the orange BMW Khanya bumped into, Katlego Mphuthi, lives in the same complex as the actress.
POLICE GET INVOLVED
To get clarity on the matter, Move! spoke to Colonel Lungelo Dlamini from Randburg Police Station where Khanya was initially detained. He confirmed that Khanya was indeed arrested but was released.
“She had not been formally charged and a case docket which was opened is still with the prosecutor for a review. Therefore, this office may not comment further at this stage until a decision has been made,” he says.
Despite this small glitch, Khanya started off the year on a good note bagging a role on telenovela, The Queen. She stars as Akhona and has started off on a high-note on the drama-filled production.
At the time of going print, Move! could not reach Khanya or Katlego for comment.
