Former Muvhango actress and club hostess, Tebogo Thobejane, found herself in a harrowing situation when she and her friend were attacked while leaving Saints Champagne Lounge in Sandton, Johannesburg. The incident occurred around 11 PM when three men in a vehicle approached and opened fire on their Mercedes Benz. Tebogo, who had recently returned to South Africa after spending nearly a year traveling between countries, expressed disbelief at the unexpected turn of events.

Tebogo had previously faced defamation allegations, prompting her to leave the country and seek refuge abroad. Various individuals, including club hostess and Diamond & Dolls star Inno Morolong, made public accusations against her, labeling her a scammer, thigh vendor, pimp, and user of muthi. Feeling overwhelmed by the hostility and animosity directed towards her, Tebogo sought solace in a peaceful environment where she could continue her work without fear or intimidation. However, she recently made the decision to reopen her entertainment lounge, Club X, and returned to South Africa.

Recalling the incident, Tebogo described the evening as enjoyable until the moment they were attacked. She was accompanied by a friend in the car when a florist vehicle approached them, followed closely by a white Audi. Without warning, the attackers opened fire, narrowly missing Tebogo but striking her friend, who is currently hospitalized.

She believes the calculated nature of the assault points to it being a deliberate attempt on her life.

"It did not look like it was a robbery or an attempted hijacking. I have my suspicions- it looked like a hit." Tebogo says she is not okay and is traumatised. "We are blessed to be alive, but my friend is in hospital and I am trying to recover from the trauma. I knew some people didn't like me but I did not expect someone to shoot me or to want to kill me. Is it the money? Is it the club? This has become very unsafe. I am a mother, who will take care of my son if anything were to happen to me?"

Her hope is that authorities can shed light on those responsible to help prevent any repeat incidents. As she focuses on recovery, Thobejane’s ordeal highlights the real dangers some public figures in South Africa face amid online feuds and societal issues.
